As you transform your smile, don’t forget to brush! Brushing is a very important task, and you need to brush your teeth at least twice a day, if not more. If you can, carry your toothbrush around with you throughout the day and brush after every meal and snack. This will help keep your teeth and appliance clean as you smile throughout the day. Now, we do understand that brushing can be a little more difficult than expected, but we are here to help you! To properly clean your smile, please do the following:

Prepare to brush: Remove the elastics and removable pieces from your appliance.

Clean your braces: Use your toothbrush and clean around the wires, pins, and brackets of your appliance. Make sure you clean as much plaque and debris as possible. This will help you maintain your oral health and strength as you change your smile.

Brush your teeth: Hold your toothbrush at a 45-degree angle and clean each tooth individually. Place the brush against the section of your tooth that lies between your wire and gums. Use a circular motion and scrub the plaque and food particles away. Repeat this process with the other sections of the tooth as well as with the additional teeth in your smile.

We also strongly recommend flossing and rinsing at least once a day. Flossing will deeply clean the hard-to-reach areas of your mouth, and rinsing will nourish and strengthen your teeth and gums. If you brush your teeth every morning and every night, floss once a day, and rinse your mouth with mouthwash daily, you are on the right track.
