Braces are often an effective orthodontic solution that resolves alignment issues with your teeth. The brackets are cemented to the faces of your teeth with a strong dental adhesive. Once bonded and secured, they create an effective system for aligning you’re your teeth. This is done with periodic adjustments at McCord Orthodontics.

Each adjustment applies progressive tension to your teeth, bringing them one minute step closer to their ideal alignment. As a general rule of thumb, Dr. Layne K McCord & Matt McCoy prefers to schedule adjustments every four to six weeks. If you have an upcoming scheduling conflict with an adjustment session, be sure to call the clinic at 208.529.8333 for a new adjustment time.

Each adjustment session also includes an inspection of the braces hardware and teeth. Spacers, bands, or any other piece of hardware that show excess wear and tear might need to be replaced. Sometimes a spacer will come loose right before a scheduled adjustment session. If this happens, you should let your orthodontist know so they can plan to replace it. This often involves setting up an earlier adjustment appointment.

If you’re struggling to clean your teeth and braces with brushing and flossing alone, you might want to ask Dr. Layne K McCord & Matt McCoy for oral hygiene advice. Many times, they will simply recommend using some special oral hygiene tools to help maintain good oral hygiene.
