Braces in Idaho Falls, Idaho, can be annoying and inconvenient, but there are things you can do to improve your relationship with your appliance. Those things are:
-Floss: Flossing is one of the best ways to clean your smile. It eliminates the food particles and plaque that are between the teeth and it also prevents gum disease. So, it’s best to floss your smile at least once a day. However, we recommend flossing after every meal if possible. This can help you avoid having a food-filled smile.
-Avoid eating sticky or hard foods: Your braces will thank you if you avoid eating sticky and hard foods, like toffee, caramel, and gummy candies. If you eat these foods, there is a high chance that your brackets and wires can break.
-Chew with your back teeth: If you chew with your back teeth, there is a chance that your orthodontic appliance will stay in tip-top shape. Biting into foods, like hamburgers and apples, can harm the front part of the appliance. So, we recommend cutting the hard foods into small pieces and popping them into the back of your mouth to chew.
-Wear rubber bands and headgear: If your treatment requires the use of rubber bands, headgear, or other appliances, it’s recommended to wear them at the recommended times. If you don’t, your treatment time could be increased by months.
If you do these things, you will have a positive and successful orthodontic experience.
